About Ultrassure
Ultrassure is building AI-powered contract intelligence for the insurance and reinsurance industry. Our platform is trusted by insurers, MGAs, brokers, and reinsurers processing $10B of platform premium across Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, and the United Kingdom. We've raised a pre-seed round. We're a small, focused team that ships daily and moves fast.
The role
We're looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer who thrives at the intersection of engineering and client success. You'll work directly with our largest customers, including global reinsurers, brokers, and carriers, to deploy Ultrassure, build custom integrations, and ensure our platform delivers real business value from day one.
This role is equal parts technical and relational. You'll be in the room with clients, understanding their workflows, then back at your desk shipping solutions that solve their exact problems. If you want to build product and see customers use it in real time, this is the role.
What you’ll do
- Lead technical implementations for enterprise clients, from scoping to go-live
- Build custom integrations with client systems (document management, policy admin, data warehouses)
- Translate client requirements into product improvements and feature requests
- Serve as the technical voice in client conversations alongside sales and customer success
- Debug production issues and optimize platform performance for specific client workloads
- Travel occasionally to client sites for onboarding and strategic engagements
What you’ll work with
- Frontend
- Next.js, TypeScript, Shadcn/ui, Tailwind CSS
- Backend
- Django, Python, REST APIs
- AI & Infrastructure
- Google Vertex AI, Claude Enterprise, Amazon Bedrock, Azure AI
- Integrations
- Client APIs, SSO/SAML, Cloud Storage, Data Pipelines
What we’re looking for
- 2+ years of software engineering experience with client-facing or solutions engineering exposure
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with TypeScript, React/Next.js, and Python
- Comfort working directly with enterprise customers and navigating ambiguity
- Ability to context-switch between client calls and deep technical work
- Based in Toronto and able to work from our Bay & King office 3 days per week
- Willingness to travel occasionally (10-20%)
What we offer
- Competitive salary and meaningful equity in an early-stage company
- Gym and squash memberships included
- Hybrid work with a central downtown office at Bay & King
- High autonomy, high impact. Your work ships and matters.
- Direct exposure to enterprise sales cycles and customer relationships
